Jocelyn Harper
Jocelyn Harper is a Software Engineer at Splice.
Jocelyn Harper began her software engineering career in January 2016 after completing a 12-week coding bootcamp focused on Java and JavaScript. Before graduating, she secured a position as a Java developer at J.P. Morgan Chase, where she worked primarily in fintech until 2022.
In 2019, Jocelyn launched her “Git Cute Podcast,” offering insights into her experiences as a senior software engineer. She also self-published A Software Engineer’s Guide to Seniority, which was later republished by Apress. This success led to speaking engagements across the U.S. and guest spots on prominent podcasts, including Microsoft’s 8-Bit, The Stack Overflow Podcast, and Arrested DevOps.
After her fintech career, Jocelyn joined The New York Times as a tech lead and staff software engineer, where she led efforts to overhaul testing and standardization. She has since built a large social media following, sharing her tech journey and advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Currently, Jocelyn is focusing on optimization, infrastructure in her next role, and writing her second book while enjoying time between roles.
