As Chief Technology Officer, James Donkin has overall responsibility for how we develop our technology products and solutions, how technology enables our work, and how our use of technology is robust and secure. Key areas of focus include information security, digital workplace, cloud platform, engineering productivity, tech stack and tooling, and group IT services.

Previously, as General Manager, James was responsible for the development of many elements of the Ocado Smart Platform including webshop and mobile shopping apps, supply chain, home delivery, click and collect and in-store-fulfilment, as well as the cloud platform these services operate on.

James has spent over 25 years in the technology industry, focused on software engineering, with an emphasis on online and retail businesses, distributed computing and computationally challenging problems.
