Sophia Russell is a self taught software engineer who originally worked in pastry and in publishing before pursuing more digital dreams in New York City over ten years ago. She started out as a product engineer at a few startups doing AllTheThings, and has now worked as an SRE for almost 7 years. Her passion for automation drove the switch (though she confesses her feelings towards Ansible may have evolved), but Sophia’s love for coding led her to specialize in Ruby, observability, and distributed systems. Unrelatedly, Sophia’s parents are goat farmers and cheesemakers in rural North Carolina.
